Viranna and Raghavendra Prasanna of Jyotigowdanpur village of the taluk demanded that the culprits of the defacement of the Buddha statue and Ambedkar plex should be arrested and exiled.
Speaking at a press conference called at the Bhavan of District Working Journalists in the city, they said that on 24th of last month, Buddha was killed in Jyotigowdanpur village. The villagers brought the incident of defacement of the statue and Ambedkar plex to the attention of the district administration and the police department and said that they demanded severe punishment for those who committed this act. But this incident cannot be done by one person, we told the police department that there is the work of unseen hands behind it, but the villagers have not said that the arrested person is not a criminal, but the village has spread a false rumor that he is not the person. He submitted a request to arrest the real accused of mutilation, not the opposition, and then said that we will condemn the statement made about our society in the meeting.
Ambedkar did not give us a mission gun, he gave us a pen. He said that it is not right to lash out, the leaders of the society are like brothers and sisters in the village and we request that whoever is guilty should be arrested by the police department and given severe punishment.
